CICLO FIREBLOCK® EU
INTUMESCENT PAINTING CYCLE FOR BEAMS AND COLUMNS IN LAMINATED WOOD AND IN SOLID WOOD (FIR/PINE/LARCH)
It’s a intumescent painting cycle for the protection of beams and of columns in laminated wood and in solid wood (fir/pine/larch). The product is certified in accordance with EN 13381-7 standard.
APPLICATION CYCLE
The application cycle provides the following procedures:
1) PREPARATION OF THE SURFACE
Verify that the materials to protect are free of grease, fats, oil, waxy impregnating and preesisting varnishes. Existing paint coats must be removed by sandblasting or by sandpapering with coarse grain and then fine abrasive paper at naked wood. After this operation, in order to ensure maximum adherence of intumescent cycle on the support, carry out further cleaning using a dampened cloth with nitro thinner to remove completely from wood traces of wax. It should be checked carefully that the humidity of the wooden materials to coated is less than the value of 12% in weight. If the conditions of preparation above indicated are not respected, we don’t give any guarantee of durability of treatment.
2) WATER BASED IMPREGNATING AGENT FOR WOOD
Application of our product STARWOOD/W, water based primer, in amount of 80-100 g/m2 in order to confer resistance to mold and pests of wood (this treatment should be done on naked wood). The product is supplied in transparent or colored version.
3) INTUMESCENT PAINTING CYCLE
Application of several coats of varnish FIREBLOCK EU with recoat time as specified in the relative technical data sheet: it is recommended to apply a quantity of 150-200 g/m2 per coat. The amount of FIREBLOCK EU to be applied shall be determined by the engineering office of reference: it’s based on the required fire resistance class and of the technical data, relating to the profiles to be painted, contained in report of calculation and in the drawings.
We recommend to wait at least 48 hours for the complete drying of the previous coats; then make a light sandpapering and proceed with the application of one finishing coat called TOP COAT PER FIREBLOCK EU in amount of 50 g/m2. CICLO FIREBLOCK® EU can be applied by brush, roller or spray by airless device without filter (nozzle diameter: 0,28 – 0,38 mm).
